This kit utilizes a factory BMW shift lever which is slightly shorter than your stock lever (as much as 3/4" in some models) and offers a short throw. The difference vs factory is approximately 30% so it is not drastic. Effort is increased slightly but as with factory, there is not notchiness. Plus we include ALL parts to refresh the system which will make it better than factory fresh.
Options include delrin carrier bushings which will further improve side to side play and a replacement rubber shift boot. The shift boot is often torn or very brittle from age and will tear upon removal. This boot helps keep noise and possibly exhaust fumes from entering the cabin. When properly installed on the top of the shift carrier, it will also prolong shifter life by keeping road grime out of the cup.
